Setwave does not create user accounts or passwords. You can run the calculator and request board matches without giving a name or email.

Quiz and recommendation inputs

The calculator asks for weight, ability, typical waves, how often you surf, and what you want from a board. Age is optional. Board matching may also ask for a budget, board type, preferred brands, and location. When the save succeeds, those answers (and the calculated volume range) are stored in our database on Supabase so we can improve the product and, if you continue to matches, attach a recommendation request to that profile. If the save fails, you still see your result in the browser.

Events we log

The app records named funnel events in Supabase: calculator started, calculator finished (a volume result was shown), board match requested, recommendations viewed, email signup, and a buy-link click. A start includes which Setwave button or page opened the calculator when that is known (for example the home hero, the header, or a blog post), plus a same-site path or external site name for the referrer. A buy-link click includes the board, retailer, affiliate network, and the Setwave page it was clicked on. Events may also include a profile id and a small detail such as ability. They are not a browsing history of other sites.

Email (optional)

If you ask us to email your results, we send that message with Resend and store the address in our database with a consent flag so we know you requested it. The form says we will email that result only and will not send extra messages unless you ask — that is how the product is built today. We cannot control how your inbox provider handles the message.

Vercel Analytics

The site loads Vercel Web Analytics, which reports aggregated page views for the deployment host. We do not independently audit Vercel's processing.

Affiliate click tracking

When you click a retailer link on a board card, we try to log that click so we can see which matches people actually follow. We do not see the purchase. Amazon links use our Associates Store ID and no extra per-click id. If a buy link is an Awin tracking link, we add Awin's clickref so that click can be matched later to an Awin commission report. Setwave is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, and Amazon records those clicks under our Store ID. Amazon and Awin have their own policies. See Affiliate disclosure.

Cookies

Setwave's own code does not set cookies and does not read document.cookie. Amazon listings in the shipped catalog include a commission note of one cookie day. That number describes Amazon's commission window. It is not a cookie this site writes. After you follow an Amazon buy link, Amazon may set its own cookies on Amazon's site. If a buy link is already an Awin tracking link, we add a click reference and Awin may set its own cookies on Awin's domain when you follow it. We do not add an Amazon or Awin cookie on Setwave.

What stays on your device

Your latest volume result and board matches are kept in the browser's session storage so the recommendations page can show them. Funnel events also use a random id in that same tab session storage so a calculator start can be tied to a finish and to buy-link clicks in that visit. It is not an account, it is not shared with other sites, and it is removed when the tab closes. We do not store your email address or IP address on funnel events. Clearing site data for this origin removes the local copy.

Third parties

Today that includes Supabase (database), Resend (email), Vercel (hosting and analytics), Fontshare (typefaces), and retailers / affiliate networks when you click out. We do not run a third-party ad network on Setwave pages. We do not claim that none of these companies will ever change their practices.

Typefaces load from Fontshare (api.fontshare.com). That request is for CSS and font files. Quiz answers and email are not sent there.
